Update: Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, Regulation 6

Posted: 23rd January 2023

The latest addition to the regulations made under Article 24 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 has now come into place. As of 23rd January 2023, Regulation 6 states that it is a legal requirement for responsible persons of high-rise residential buildings in England to:

  • draw up and share electronically up-to-date floor plans indicating the location of all key fire-fighting equipment with their local fire and rescue services,
  • maintain and store these plans as a hard copy securely on the premises.

These changes are an effort to fulfil The Grenfell Tower Inquiry’s recommendations on building plans and will aid firefighters to make quick and critical decisions during a fire incident.
